On the eve of the state visit of the President of the Republic of Turkmenistan Serdar Berdimuhamedov to the Republic of Tajikistan, on May 8, 2023, the Business Forum of Tajikistan and Turkmenistan was held in Dushanbe.

The business forum with an opening speech was opened by the Deputy Prime Minister of the Republic of Tajikistan, Mr. Usmonali Usmonzoda, and the Deputy Chairman of the Cabinet of Ministers of Turkmenistan, Mr. Batyr Atdaev. During his speech, the Deputy Prime Minister of the Republic of Tajikistan noted that bilateral cooperation between the Republic of Tajikistan and the Republic of Turkmenistan is being developed through the joint efforts of the two parties, and holding such events contributes to the development of trade and economic cooperation, and also helps to increase export potential, attract investment, and import modern technologies and strengthening bilateral economic cooperation. It was also noted that the volume of foreign trade turnover with Turkmenistan in 2022 amounted to $52.9 million, compared to the same period in 2021, it increased by $30.7 million or 2.3 times.

The Forum was attended by more than 250 participants from both sides, including heads and officials of ministries and departments, businessmen and investors, as well as representatives of companies and enterprises in various fields economic activity of Tajikistan and Turkmenistan in priority areas.

Within the framework of the Forum, the participants were introduced to the investment climate and opportunities in the areas of industry, energy, services, agriculture, logistics, transport and modern technologies. After the plenary session, a bilateral meeting of entrepreneurs of the two countries took place in the “Business to Business” (B2B) format, as a result of which new documents on cooperation in such areas as services, bilateral trade, agriculture, healthcare, transport and light industry were signedThe participants of the Business Forum of Tajikistan and Turkmenistan highly appreciated the development of bilateral relations and the signing of mutually beneficial agreements and contracts covering all areas of economic cooperation, and agreed to regularly hold such meetings of entrepreneurs.
