On May 26, 2022, the Chairman of the State Committee on Investments and State Property Management of the Republic of Tajikistan met with the Deputy Chief of the U.S. International Development Finance Corporation.
The meeting was opened with a welcoming speech by the Chairman of the Committee Sadi Qodirzoda. The Chairman said that the visit of the American side to Tajikistan would open a new page in strengthening economic relations with an emphasis on attracting investments.
It was noted that there are 40 companies operating in the Republic of Tajikistan, in the authorized capital of which there is a share of American companies.
Between 2015 and 2021, US investors invested $297.8 million in Tajikistan's economy, of which $41.5 million was direct investment.
During the meeting, the Deputy Chief of the U.S. International Development Finance Corporation, Mr Naz El-Khatib expressed his readiness to strengthen bilateral investment and trade cooperation.
The Chairman of the Committee noted that there are currently five free economic zones in the country and the Government of Tajikistan actively encourages investment activities, which currently offer more than 100 tax and customs exemptions to investors.
During the meeting, Mr Naz El-Khatib drew attention to the implementation of investment projects in the field of hydropower and support for women entrepreneurs and expressed interest in working in this direction.
Overall, the meeting was held in an atmosphere of mutual understanding.
