On July 19, 2024, the 18th Joint intergovernmental Commission on economic cooperation between Tajikistan and Kazakhstan was held in Dushanbe under the leadership of the First Deputy Prime Minister of the Republic of Tajikistan Hokim Khaliqzoda and the First Deputy Prime Minister of the Republic of Kazakhstan Roman Sklyar.
The event started with the opening speech of the First Deputy Prime Minister of the Republic of Tajikistan, Hokim Khaliqzoda, and it was informed that the economic and commercial cooperation of the Republic of Tajikistan and the Republic of Kazakhstan has expanded more than before under the political will of the Heads of both countries, and has a special position in the foreign policy of the Republic of Tajikistan.
In particular, the turnover of goods in 2023 between Tajikistan and Kazakhstan will be 1.1 billion. dollars, Kazakhstan will occupy the 4th place in the structure of foreign trade of Tajikistan in 2023.
Currently, there are 92 Kazakh companies operating in Tajikistan, and during the last 10 years, they have made 45.0 mln. dollars of foreign direct investment.
It was mentioned that there are many economic and investment opportunities between Tajikistan and Kazakhstan, the effective use of which is beneficial for the development and progress of both countries.
Also, at this meeting, the current situation and prospects for the development of economic cooperation between Tajikistan and Kazakhstan in the fields of economy and trade, industry, investment and banking, transport, water and energy, agriculture, customs, education and science, culture, health, tourism, youth and sports, emigration and population employment, ecology and environmental protection were discussed, and the parties expressed their readiness to further strengthen beneficial economic and commercial cooperation.
During the meeting of the Commission, instructions and suggestions were given to the state authorities of both sides to expand mutually beneficial economic and commercial cooperation, to create favorable conditions for increasing the flow of bilateral trade.
At the same time, it was mentioned that the upcoming state visit of the President of the Republic of Kazakhstan, Honorable Kasim-Jomart Tokayev, in August of this year, will undoubtedly contribute to the strengthening of further bilateral relations in all areas.
As a result of the meeting, the Protocol of the intergovernmental commission of Tajikistan and Kazakhstan on economic cooperation was signed.
