On November 20, 2024, within the framework of the visit of the delegation of the Republic of Tajikistan to the Republic of Singapore, was held a meeting between the Chairman of the State Committee on Investments and State Property Management of the Republic of Tajikistan Mr. Sulton Rahimzoda and the President of the Republic of Singapore Mr. Tharman Shanmugaratnam.
During the meeting was discussed the current situation and prospects for cooperation between the Republic of Tajikistan and the Republic of Singapore, as well as priority areas of economic relations, including attracting direct investment from Singapore to the economy of Tajikistan, implementing joint projects in the fields of energy, minerals, finance, agriculture and tourism, banking, digitalization, the use of artificial intelligence in various industries, as well as other issues of mutual interest.
It should be noted that Tharman Shanmugaratnam, being a member of the Global Commission on Water Economy, is considered one of the co-authors of the report "Water Economy", made an important contribution to the promotion of water issues, including the holding of the UN Water Conference, which was co-chaired by the Founder of Peace and National Unity, Leader of the Nation, President of the Republic of Tajikistan Honorable Emomali Rahmon in March 2023 in New York.
In this regard, the parties also discussed the issue of cooperation between Tajikistan and Singapore in promoting water issues on the global agenda, and also considered the importantance of holding the UN Water Conference in Dushanbe in 2028 to strengthen the water issue.
Sulton Rahimzoda expressed gratitude to Tharman Shanmugaratnam for cooperation in this important area, and also invited him to participate in the International Conference on Glacier Protection, which will be held in Dushanbe in May 2025.
