Delegation of the Republic of Tajikistan led by the First Deputy Prime Minister of the Republic of Tajikistan Kholikzoda Hokim Hikmatullo by order of the Leader of the Nation, President of the Republic of Tajikistan Honorable Emomali Rahmon, took part in the 28th International Investment Conference in Riyadh, Kingdom of Saudi Arabia from November 24 to 27.
The First Deputy Prime Minister of the Republic of Tajikistan was accompanied on this trip by the heads of the State Committee on Investments and State Property Management, the Ministries of Industry and New Technologies, Energy and Water Resources, Agriculture, National Bank, Tourism Development Committee, Export Agency, the Chamber of Commerce and Industry and representatives of business circles of the country.
On the sidelines of the event on November 24-26, the country's delegation headed by the First Deputy Prime Minister of the Republic of Tajikistan Khaliqzoda Hokim Hikmatullo met with the President of the Islamic Development Bank Dr. Muhammad Suleiman Al-Jasser, Director of the Saudi Fund for Development Sultan Al-Marshad, Minister of Investment Khalid Al-Falih, Minister of Environment, Water and Agriculture Abdulrahman Al-Fazli, Minister of Industry and Mineral Resources Bandar Alkhorayef, the Chairman of the Union of Chambers of Commerce of Saudi Arabia Hassan Al-Khuwaizi and the head of Saudi Arabia Exim Bank.
During the above-mentioned meetings, the parties reviewed the current state and prospects of bilateral cooperation between the Republic of Tajikistan and the Kingdom of Saudi Arabia and agreed to expand mutual cooperation in the implementation of infrastructure and social projects, attracting direct investment in priority areas of the national economy, green energy, digitalization, banking sector, export, water and climate and other issues of mutual interest.
For his valuable contribution to the development of bilateral cooperation, the First Deputy Prime Minister of the Republic of Tajikistan presented the President of the Islamic Development Bank Dr. Muhammad Suleiman Al-Jasser with the state award of the Republic of Tajikistan "Order of Friendship".
Also, on November 25-26, the country's high level delegation took part in the 28th International Investment Conference, a joint intergovernmental commission on economic, trade, investment, technical and cultural cooperation and a round table with the participation of trade and investment circles of Tajikistan and Saudi Arabia.
In order to strengthen cooperation between the business and investment circles of the two countries, the parties agreed to hold the first meeting of the Business Council of Tajikistan and Saudi Arabia in December of this year in Dushanbe.
During the visit of the delegation of the Republic of Tajikistan to the Kingdom of Saudi Arabia, were signed the following cooperation documents between the relevant state authorities of the two countries:
- Protocol of the 4th meeting of the joint intergovernmental commission of the Republic of Tajikistan and the Kingdom of Saudi Arabia on economic, trade, investment, technical and cultural cooperation;
- Memorandum of Understanding between the Ministry of Agriculture of the Republic of Tajikistan and the Ministry of Environment, Water and Agriculture of Saudi Arabia on cooperation in the field of agriculture;
- Memorandum of Understanding between the Export Agency under the Government of the Republic of Tajikistan and the Export Development Committee of Saudi Arabia on the development of non-oil exports;
- Memorandum of Understanding between the Chamber of Commerce and Industry of the Republic of Tajikistan and the Union of Chambers of Commerce and Industry of Saudi Arabia on the establishment of the Business Council of Tajikistan and Saudi Arabia.
The signed documents provide a favorable basis for the expansion of mutually beneficial cooperation and are an important step in the further development of cooperation between the two countries.
