Today, the Chairman of the State Committee on Investments and State Property Management of the Republic of Tajikistan, Mr. Sulton Rahimzoda, held a virtual meeting via Zoom with Mr. Ludger Schuknecht, Vice President and Corporate Secretary of the Asian Infrastructure Investment Bank (AIIB).
The main focus of the meeting was the upcoming role of Mr. Rahimzoda as Vice Chair for the AIIB Annual Meeting of the Board of Governors, which will be held in 2026. He will begin serving as Vice Chair from June 2025 until the Annual Meeting in 2026. Mr. Schuknecht formally extended the invitation, which was welcomed by Mr. Rahimzoda with appreciation and readiness.
In addition to this key announcement, both parties discussed ongoing cooperation between Tajikistan and the AIIB, with particular attention to the Roghun Hydropower Project. The importance of this strategic project for Tajikistan’s energy security and regional integration was reaffirmed. Mr. Rahimzoda emphasized the country’s focus on sustainable infrastructure development and recognized the vital role of international financial institutions, including the AIIB, in supporting such efforts.
The meeting concluded with a shared commitment to deepen collaboration, particularly in the areas of green and sustainable energy.
This engagement marks another step forward in strengthening the partnership between Tajikistan and the AIIB.
