The Chairman of the State Committee on Investments and State Property Management of the Republic of Tajikistan held a high-level meeting with Her Excellency Katherine Smitton, the Ambassador of the United Kingdom to Tajikistan. This marked their first official engagement, underscoring the mutual interest in strengthening bilateral economic relations.
During the meeting, the two sides engaged in a constructive dialogue focused on enhancing cooperation in key strategic sectors. Particular emphasis was placed on climate-resilient development, renewable energy—especially green and hydropower—and the broad spectrum of investment opportunities available in Tajikistan.
The Chairman highlighted the country’s rich potential in hydropower, noting that Tajikistan is home to some of the largest untapped clean energy resources in Central Asia. Discussions also touched on advancing joint efforts in environmental sustainability and green transition initiatives, which align with both nations’ long-term development goals.
Ambassador Smitton expressed the United Kingdom’s interest in exploring collaborative projects that align with global priorities for climate action and economic development. Both parties reiterated their commitment to fostering a transparent and mutually beneficial investment environment.
