Meeting with the President of the Asian Development Bank Masato Kanda

On March 4, the President of the Republic of Tajikistan, Leader of the Nation, Honorable Emomali Rahmon, received the President of the Asian Development Bank, Honorable Masato Kanda.

The Head of State congratulated Masato Kanda on his election to the post of President of the Bank and considered the first visit of the latter to Tajikistan as a sign of the special interest of this financial institution in strengthening long-term cooperation between the parties.

During the conversation, the current level of cooperation and the Bank's contribution to the implementation of the goals of socio-economic development of Tajikistan were highly appreciated. It was emphasized that the Asian Development Bank is one of the main partners of our country, and over the years of cooperation it has contributed to the implementation of more than 200 projects for a total amount of $2.9 billion.

The parties expressed satisfaction with the adoption of the new Partnership Strategy of the Bank and Tajikistan for 2026-2030. It was stressed that its main directions, including the development of energy, transport, digitalization, adaptation to climate change, and strengthening the social and private sectors, are fully consistent with the national goals of Tajikistan.

Particular attention was paid to the process of implementing priority investment projects. The Head of State expressed gratitude to the Bank for supporting the state budget and promoting initiatives to form a "green" economy.

The prospects for expanding cooperation in the fields of education, combating the consequences of climate change, and protecting glaciers were also discussed. In this context, it was considered necessary to attract additional financing and continue structural reforms to develop human capital and ensure the ecological security of the region.

The parties emphasized their readiness to strengthen long-term beneficial cooperation and expressed confidence that the results of today's meeting will effectively contribute to the further development of the strategic partnership between the Republic of Tajikistan and the Asian Development Bank.
