30 April 2026, a grant agreement was signed between the Government of the Republic of Tajikistan and the World Bank Group for the implementation of the Tajikistan Women’s Economic Empowerment Project in the amount of 4.7 million USD.
The main objective of the project is to support the development of women’s entrepreneurship, including in the tourism sector, as well as to enhance entrepreneurial skills through training programs, advisory services, and strengthening of economic initiatives. The project will also contribute to the development of small and medium-sized enterprises led by women.
Within the framework of the project, the creation of new jobs is planned, and women will be supported through grant financing. Special focus will be given to priority sectors such as tourism, agribusiness, digital technologies, as well as renewable energy services and sustainable agricultural processing.
Implementation of the project will be led by the State Committee on Investment and State Property Management of the Republic of Tajikistan and will aim to expand women’s economic empowerment and promote private sector development in the country.
