On May 6, 2026, at the State Committee on Investment and State Property Management, the “Investment Agreement between the Government of the Republic of Tajikistan and the limited liability company ‘Rooftop’ on the project for equipping enterprises and other energy consumers with solar panels in the Republic of Tajikistan with a total capacity of 2000 MW” was signed.
The investment project is aimed at accelerating the country’s energy independence, developing green energy, introducing renewable energy sources, reducing the capacity deficit in the energy system, ensuring efficient use of solar energy, establishing a sustainable mechanism for investment cooperation in the solar energy sector, and creating stable economic conditions.
The implementation of the project aligns with the goals of the National Development Strategy of the Republic of Tajikistan until 2030 and the Investment Attraction Strategy until 2040, and is aimed at diversifying energy sources, developing green energy, and reducing dependence on imported sources.
Within the framework of the project:
- additional energy capacity of 2000 MW will be created;
- annual electricity generation will reach 3.5 billion kWh;
- more than 500 new jobs will be created;
- up to 1 billion USD in direct investment will be attracted;
- greenhouse gas emissions will be reduced, improving the environmental situation.
At the same time, the project will enable enterprises to independently supply themselves with electricity, while surplus energy can be fed into the grid. This initiative will help reduce the load on power networks, improve energy efficiency, and increase the country’s export potential.
According to the agreement, at least 80% of employees will be recruited from among citizens of the Republic of Tajikistan, and favorable conditions will be created for training highly qualified specialists.
