Today, April 8, 2025, a meeting was held between the Chairman of the State Committee on Investment and State Property Management of the Republic of Tajikistan, Mr. Sulton Rahimzoda, and the Director General of the Abu Dhabi Fund for Development (ADFD), Mr. Mohammed Saif Al Suwaidi.
The meeting focused on attracting investment for the continuation of the Rogun Hydropower Plant (HPP) construction. The Chairman presented Tajikistan’s vast energy potential, particularly in the field of green energy, and invited ADFD to invest in the implementation of the Rogun HPP project and other infrastructure initiatives.
Mr. Al Suwaidi expressed satisfaction with the current cooperation and reaffirmed ADFD’s readiness to explore investment opportunities in Tajikistan’s priority sectors, including energy. He noted that the Fund has extensive experience in financing infrastructure projects worldwide and is interested in expanding its collaboration with Tajikistan.
The Rogun HPP, currently under construction on the Vakhsh River, will become the largest hydropower plant in Central Asia upon completion, with a capacity of 3,600 megawatts. The plant will meet the country’s domestic electricity needs and create opportunities for electricity export to neighboring countries.
This event marked an important step in strengthening economic cooperation and attracting foreign investment for the implementation of Tajikistan’s strategic projects, including the Rogun Hydropower Plant.
