On 20 December 2025, the Central Asia + Japan Business Forum was held in Tokyo.
The Forum was attended by the President of the Republic of Tajikistan, Leader of the Nation, His Excellency Emomali Rahmon, the Prime Minister of Japan, as well as Heads of State and high-level representatives of Central Asian countries.
The main objective of the Forum was to further strengthen economic, trade, and investment cooperation between Central Asian countries and Japan, with particular emphasis on green and sustainable development, digitalization, finance, human capital development, and the creation of a supportive social environment for business.
At the conclusion of the Forum, the Prime Minister of Japan, Ms. Sanae Takaichi, delivered a closing address, welcoming the Heads of State and representatives of the business communities of participating countries.
Within the framework of the official visit of the President of the Republic of Tajikistan, Leader of the Nation, His Excellency Emomali Rahmon, to Japan, a number of new cooperation documents were signed following high-level meetings and negotiations.
In particular, the following documents were signed:
- Joint Statement of the Republic of Tajikistan and Japan on further development of relations aimed at establishing mutually beneficial cooperation;
- Agreement between the Government of the Republic of Tajikistan and the Government of Japan on the Promotion and Mutual Protection of Investments;
- Memorandum of Understanding between the Ministry of Industry and New Technologies of the Republic of Tajikistan and the Ministry of Economy, Trade and Industry of Japan in the field of industry;
- Cooperation Program between the Ministry of Foreign Affairs of the Republic of Tajikistan and the Ministry of Foreign Affairs of Japan for 2026–2028;
- Exchange of Notes and a Grant Agreement on the project “Modernization of Cargo Scanning Equipment at the Customs Checkpoint of Spitamen District along the Trans-Caspian International Transport Route”;
- Grant Agreement on the project “Construction of a 220 kV Power Substation for the City of Dushanbe”;
- Memorandum of Understanding between the Ministry of Transport of the Republic of Tajikistan and the Ministry of Land, Infrastructure, Transport and Tourism of Japan;
- Memorandum of Understanding between the Ministry of Agriculture of the Republic of Tajikistan and the Ministry of Agriculture, Forestry and Fisheries of Japan;
- Documents related to the implementation of the project “Strengthening the Disaster Risk Reduction System in Central Asia and the Republic of Tajikistan” with the support of the United Nations Development Programme.
Furthermore, within the framework of the Central Asia + Japan Regional Business Forum and the Tajikistan–Japan Business Forum, the following documents were signed:
- Memorandum of Understanding between the Agency for Innovation and Digital Technologies under the President of the Republic of Tajikistan and “Masui Co., Ltd”;
- Memorandum of Understanding between the Ministry of Industry and New Technologies of the Republic of Tajikistan and the Japanese company “Curtis Creek Co., Ltd” on promoting exports of textile products of the Republic of Tajikistan;
- Memorandum of Understanding between the Ministry of Energy and Water Resources of the Republic of Tajikistan and the Japanese Meteorological Engineering Center;
- Memorandum of Understanding between the Tajik Technical University named after Academician M.S. Osimi and “Splice-Lab Co., Ltd” on training local engineers in bridge construction;
- Memorandum of Understanding between the Ministry of Health and Social Protection of the Population of the Republic of Tajikistan and the Japanese corporation “Sansei Corporation” for the acceptance of mobile medical vehicles.
Overall, as a result of the official visit of the President of the Republic of Tajikistan to Japan, nearly 20 new cooperation documents were signed, providing a solid foundation for further expansion of strategic partnership and practical cooperation between the two countries.
